NeighborWorks Week Highlights Impact
The NeighborWorks network – 250 organizations strong - is proud to present NeighborWorks Week, a week-long celebration of our collective impact in strengthening communities across the nation. Taking place during the first full week of June, this event showcases the incredible work done by the network and highlights the difference we make in the lives of individuals and families.
"NeighborWorks network organizations create a bridge to opportunity and advancement," said Katie Watts, senior vice president of Field Operations. "Whether people are seeking affordable housing, financial resilience, or another life-changing goal, NeighborWorks organizations equip people with the information and resources they need to transform their lives and improve their communities."
In fiscal year 2022, the NeighborWorks network provided 415,777 housing and counseling services; created 18,775 new homeowners; and owned and/or managed 204,916 rental homes.
Here are some examples that highlight The Housing Council’s impact on the local community during the 2022 fiscal year:
· Close to 600 households took an educational class. This includes future homebuyers, current homeowners, tenants and housing providers.
· 283 homeowners at risk of default received counseling and guidance to avoid foreclosure, with a 99% success rate.
· Despite the incredibly tight housing market, our HUD-certified housing counselors were able to assist 61 families in the purchase of a new home.
· More than $1 Million in improvements were invested in more than 100 units of affordable rentals in the City of Rochester, providing safer and healthier affordable housing for low-income residents.
Throughout the week, we’ve celebrated the power of community building and the importance of affordable and stable housing. And we’ll continue the month of June with a celebration of homeownership and those who help us make it possible for hundreds of local families and individuals to enjoy the comfort of home.
